New Orleans has a plethora of festivals, activities, and delicious food. But partying all the time can leave your body less than satisfied. Fortunately there are also a number of outdoor and indoor sports that will get your body in tip-top shape.

First off, let’s take note that there are a few organizations that run leagues in multiple sports.

PlayNola offers Basketball, Bowling, Cornhole, Flag Football, Kickball, Softball, and Volleyball (Indoor). It’s all organized and tracked through their website.

Southern Sports Leagues offers kickball, softball, soccer, flag football, dodgeball, volleyball, and corn hole. Like PlayNola, they offer a website to track and alert players to schedule changes.

WAKA Kickball (and other sports) focuses on kickball, but also has foam dodgeball, volleyball, bowling, flag football, softball, a fun run, ultimate frisbee, basketball, and soccer.

The Jewish Community Center (JCC) offers a number of different sports and leagues to their members. It’s located on St. Charles in the heart of Uptown, and members have access to a pool, workout facilities, racquetball courts, and a full indoor gymnasium.

It’s worth mentioning that with the exception of the JCC, which requires a membership, each of these tend to be pricier than smaller independent leagues. That said, the organization is top notch and the leagues are always fun.

Soccer

There are soccer leagues throughout the New Orleans area, for players of all skill levels.

Crescent City Soccer runs leagues Uptown by Freret, Carrollton, and in City Park. You can play 3v3, 6v6, 7v7, or even full field 11v11. They additionally have occasional tournaments and practice sessions.

Playmakers Indoor has soccer leagues on both the Northshore and Southshore by River Road. With A, B, and C leagues you will definitely find a league that suits your skill level and competitiveness. They also offer Lacrosse and Flag football.

New Orleans Coed Soccer plays at City Park on Saturdays and Sundays, and also has different leagues for players of different skill levels.

Southeastern Louisiana Adult Soccer Association plays at Lafreniere Park on Saturdays and Sundays. They play 11v11 on an outdoor field.

Stonebridge Golf Course on the Westbank is currently the only place around New Orleans to offer soccer golf. It offers nine full holes in a golf course setting and is a great spot to test your soccer skills.

Volleyball

Volleyball is becoming more and more popular in New Orleans, and there are now multiple formal and informal leagues that operate throughout the city.

Mid City Volleyball League operates an informal league next to Bayou St. John, across from the post office. They have a suggested donation of $5 per day, and that money is used for to purchase balls and for setup. Everyone is friendly and willing to help you improve your game. Newbies are welcome, as are experts.

Coconut Beach Volleyball has sand courts and formal league play every night of the week. With a bar on site and a beach feel, this place is really enjoyable both for volleyballers and those more interested in spectating.

White Sands Volleyball is another beach volleyball facility that has leagues each night of the week and a full bar. It’s another really good option if you part of a small group looking for partners.

Bicycling

New Orleans has been slow to get up to speed in the cycling game, but there are groups popping up all over the place. Here are a few of the more notable ones.

New Orleans Bicycle Club  is a nonprofit organization that promotes bicycling, with a focus on competitive racing. They sponsor local rides and races and have a nominal membership fee of $40 per year.

Crescent City Cyclists is a touring club that hosts social events and rides on the south and north shores of Lake Pontchartrain.

NOLA Social Ride maintains a steady calendar of regular rides on weekday evenings and weekend days. It offers a range of events for riders of all levels.

Semi-Tough Cycling Club describes itself as “dedicated to the seriously casual road cyclist” and hosts riding and racing events. They’re focused on athleticism required for cycling, but they have fun doing it.

New Orleans Metro Area Mountain Bike Organization utilizes the Bonnet Carre Spillway Trail, which is a 5.5-mile loop with jumps. They also organize rides, clinics, races, and other events. Membership is $25.

Softball

The Uptown Softball League plays on Wednesday nights Uptown on LaSalle and Valmont streets. They offer a fun and friendly atmosphere with minimal league fees. This is slow pitch softball, so no worries if you haven’t played in a while.

New Orleans Softball League offers two different adult softball leagues for players of all levels.

Disc Sports

NOULTIMATE has frisbee leagues year round and is open to both experienced frisbee players and those looking to learn.

New Orleans Disc Golf Club  hosts matches in the New Orleans City Park and Lafreniere Park in Metairie, as well as an annual doubles championship. If you’re into disc golf this is a great spot to start.

Timberlane Golf Club also has a full disc golf course that is open year round. They offer all the amenities of a regular golf course, so you can grab lunch and maybe even play some regular golf while you’re there.

Dodgeball

The New Orleans Dodgeball Association offers dodgeball events and tournaments year round as well as the chance to travel against other teams both regionally and nationally.

Golf

It’s not that easy to find a golf league in New Orleans. The main one that’s open to the public is Finn McCool’s Golf league. They have regular events and the league itself is a ton of fun.
