About Buddy

Like so many, William “Buddy” King came to New Orleans to study at Tulane University and never left! Buddy came to New Orleans in the summer of 2004 to attend Tulane University, graduating in Spring 2008 with a degree in Psychology. Buddy specializes in all areas of the real estate business, whether it be navigating the way for first-time buyers, commercial properties, investments, or anything your heart desires.

With more than five years’ experience as a Realtor, Buddy has built lifelong relationships with his clients and enjoys connecting with his local community through various projects such as Habitat for Humanity.

Q
You moved here to study and decided to make New Orleans your permanent home, what makes New Orleans such a great place to live and invest in real estate?
A
I was born in North Carolina and grew up in Rootstown, Ohio, so New Orleans was really appealing to me because it was a chance to explore a big city that still had that small-town feel. New Orleans has so much to offer in terms of culture, architecture, nightlife, food, etc., and it’s constantly growing and flourishing. When I decided to become a founding partner at Satsuma I did it because I want to continue to build and revitalize our thriving real estate market.
Q
What area of real estate are you passionate about?
A
My passion is helping people find the perfect home to buy. I love that moment that you are at the closing and you get to hand them the keys! Tell your client congratulations you are now a homeowner!
Q
What is your favorite architectural style?
A
There are so many beautiful styles to choose from, but I really love Modern and Midcentury Modern.
Q
What advice would you give a new homebuyer?
A
I have two pieces of advice for anyone buying a home. First, make sure that you have a strong team behind you from lenders to agents to inspectors, and everyone else involved. This will make the entire process from the search to closing run as smoothly as possible. The second piece of advice is that when you see the property that you love that meets your goals and wishes, be ready to make an offer on it.
Q
You clearly love living and working in New Orleans, what do you like to do in your spare time?
A
I love sports — I play in two local softball and kickball leagues and serve on the softball league board. I’m a movie buff so I try to see lots of movies, play board games with my friends, and I really enjoy working on my house.
Q
What’s your go-to restaurant/bar in NOLA?
A
Brunch: Brown Butter
Lunch: Picnic or Turkey and the Wolf
Dinner: Jacques-Imo’s, Carrollton Market
Daiquiris: Jazz Daiquiris
Bar: Midway on Freret
Q
Best local festival?
A
Top Taco – Woldenberg Park on the River, unlimited tacos by the best joints in the city, live music, and tequila drinks. It’s glorious!
Q
Favorite Mardi Gras parade?
A
Tucks. Obviously, it’s hard to pick any other parade when you ride in one.
Q
What’s your favorite neighborhood in the city?
A
Broadmoor. Great neighborhood feel, and centrally located.
Q
Who’s your favorite local musician?
A
Big Freedia. My students introduced to me bounce music, and she is the best!
Q
What’s the best local music venue?
A
Tipitina’s. From the first time I watched my friends perform onstage during undergrad until the annual Don’t Spike the Eggnog fundraiser — and all the great music that’s played there every week — I have always loved Tipitina’s.
Q
What’s your favorite grocery store?
A
Winn-Dixie.
Q
Frenchmen or Bourbon?
A
Frenchmen. Especially if you’re in costume during Mardi Gras and Halloween.
Q
What’s your one favorite thing about New Orleans?
A
Without a doubt, it’s the people of New Orleans. I love that everyone says “Hi” and you can have a casual conversation with just about anyone, especially if you want to talk about the Saints.
