Why Work With a Realtor When Renting in New Orleans

True, Realtors are mostly known for helping people to sell or buy a home. But we can also help you find housing without the hassle of ownership. We gladly represent renters looking for their next place to lease, and as our commission is paid by the property owner, our service is free to renters!

Our Realtors can:

  • Slash how long it takes you to find the right rental property.
  • Help you negotiate your rent.
  • Explain the lease documents that you need to sign.
  • Share extensive knowledge of any neighborhood you’re scouting.

To help you find the ideal space, Satsuma Real Estate relies on maximum access to New Orleans rental properties. This includes access to the local multiple listing service, which provides more options than are readily available to the public.

Secure your New Orleans rental by being well prepared.

Once you’ve found an apartment you like, now you need to lock it in. In addition to your application for the unit, you must also submit:

  • Valid ID. Acceptable forms of identification include a driver’s license, state ID, green card, and passport.
  • Verification of your employment. The documentation requested may include your most recent pay stubs, or tax returns for the self-employed. If you don’t have traditional pay stubs, two or three months of recent bank statements will probably suffice.
  • The application fee. Such fees tend to range from $40 to $100.
  • Rent and security deposit. Although requirements vary, you typically need to pay the equivalent of one to two months of rent to cover the first month of your occupancy plus a refundable security deposit.
  • Information about any pets you own; for example, proof of registration and vaccination status.

Keep in mind that prospective landlords will also take your rental history into account.
